Chelsea Green is keeping the act alivebut make no mistake, shes not replacing Piper Niven.
With Niven sidelined since August due to a serious neck injury, WWE has kept things playful on-screen by having Green hand out flyers for a new Secret Hervice member and joke about Piper being on a secret mission. But the real situation behind the scenes is no joke, and Green just opened up about the truth.
Speaking with Womans World, Chelsea made it clear that Nivens absence is being feltand no one is stepping into her spot permanently.
She explained that the flyers and storyline teasing are part of a bigger strategy. By planting seeds on social media, she hopes to spark interest that WWEs writers can pick up on and possibly use in creative meetings.
Beyond the character work, Chelsea revealed that shes doing everything she can to help Niven during this tough timeespecially on a mental and emotional level.
Green added that the support system in WWEs womens locker room has always been strong, sharing how she once leaned on fellow wrestlers when she broke her collarbone in India nearly a decade ago. Now, shes paying that same support forward to Piper.
And while Green often appears to be the face of the group, she made it clear that the real backbone of the Secret Hervice is shared with Alba Fyre and Piper Niventwo women she says have far more wrestling experience than she does.
This all comes as an update on Nivens condition was recently shared by Fightful Select. According to Sean Ross Sapp, Niven is dealing with a serious neck injury, and WWE doesnt yet know the full extent of the damage.
Some within WWE reportedly fear the injury could be career-threatening. However, those close to Niven remain optimistic that shell make a full recovery.
Nivens last match came on the August 22 episode of SmackDown, where she picked up a huge singles win over Charlotte Flair. Since then, the direction of the Secret Hervice has remained in limbo as Green has continued solo, keeping the gimmick alive while supporting her tag partner behind the scenes.
The story may have started out as comedy, but the reality is very realPiper Niven is facing one of the most uncertain periods of her career. Still, with Greens support and fan love pouring in, her return remains one the WWE Universe is quietly rooting for.
