Emma Raducanu's 2025 season has come to an end after the world No. 29 decided to withdraw from her last two scheduled tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Nine days ago, Raducanu struggled in the Wuhan heat and retired from her first-round match after having her vitals checked. Two days ago, the 2021 US Open champion played out and lost her opening match in Ningbo, but only after she saw a doctor to get her blood pressure checked and a physio to treat her for a lower-back injury.

And after struggling with physical setbacks in her last two tournaments, the 22-year-old decided to put an end to her Asian swing - which effectively also ends her season.

The last part of Raducanu's season may not have been the best, but she has decided to retain coach Francisco Roig for the 2026 season - she started working with Rafael Nadal's ex-coach in August.

Raducanu makes an expected decision

Following a Wuhan retirement, the British tennis player decided to give a shot to Ningbo and sounded optimistic in her pre-tournament presser.

I think it's a special feeling. I feel very comfortable, I feel like I get amazing support here, which is so nice. I love how invested the Chinese fans are and how much support they give. I think where its different is just, its at the end of the season, so you need to push harder physically, youre feeling it a bit more, and mentally as well, to just focus. Thats probably the biggest difference," she said.

Raducanu may have hoped everything would go fine health-wise in Ningbo, but it didn't happen.

Shortly after the Briton's Ningbo exit, the public started to speculate whether she would call it a year. In the end, exactly that happened.

This year, Raducanu made her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal in Miami and also reached the Washington semifinal.
