According to a report by The Athletic, the sports division of the New York Times, LIV Golf Ltd., which manages all of the Saudi league's operations outside the United States, reported a loss of 461.8 million pounds (or $590.1 million, if you prefer) for 2024.

This brings the total losses (for this division alone), starting in 2022, LIV s first season, to 1.1 billion pounds (or $1.4 billion, if you prefer).

It's impossible to identify the amounts paid to players in LIV Golf Ltd.'s financial statements, as the amount is "submerged" in the cost of sales item, which totaled $1.34 billion (from 2022 to the end of last year), approximately 11 times the total revenue generated in the same period.

The UK-based company, along with LIV (which manages operations in the United States), is controlled by LIV Golf Investments Limited, which, according to published financial statements, received capital injections of approximately $4 billion (3.906 million, to be precise) through 2024.

It should also be noted that the accounts for the recently concluded season are missing, during which LIV Investments received additional capital injections from the PUF, the sovereign wealth fund that finances the Saudi League.

LIV Golf's galloping red can only be covered by the PIF given that, as things stand, television rights revenues, the PGA Tour's flagship, are at a completely insignificant level: in 2024, the total amount is 2.8 million pounds ($3.7 million).

Sponsors, after initial hesitation, have appeared alongside the Saudis, but they still have a small impact on the balance sheet in absolute terms.

But LIVisn't stopping.

After replacing Greg Norman, who also resigned from his role in the Saudi League, from June onward, LIVhas been recruiting new executives to fill key operational roles.

The 2026 schedule already has 11 events scheduled, and LIV Promotions will be held soon, awarding a spot among the 54 players for next season.
