Daniil Medvedev revealed in quite a way that he actually prefers the conditions at the Shanghai Masters to be as humid as possible, as the Russian tennis star suggests he is usually the one who is impacted by even the slightest humidity, so this time everyone is in the same position.

For the past week, numerous players have pretty much described the conditions in Shanghai as brutal. Due to the heat and humidity, the courts have also been impacted and have become slower. That led to several players complaining about the hard courts in Shanghai being very slow. Also, some players complained about being scheduled to play in such a situation, especially after Terence Atmane collapsed during his match against Ugo Carabelli.

But one player who hasn't had issues with the conditions so far is Medvedev, who destroyed Dalibor Svrcina 6-1 6-1 before also overcoming Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 7-6 (5) to reach the round-of-16.

Medvedev: Everyone suffers in Shanghai, so I'm happy about it

It was not easy, but actually I like this tournament, because I'm someone... When (humidity) is probably like 28 I suffer. Many guys don't. They suffer when it's like 33 in humidity. So I suffer in many tournaments, here everyone suffers, so it puts me a little bit in the same condition as everyone so I'm happy about it," the 29-year-old explained.

On Sunday, the Shanghai tournament lost its top seed after Jannik Sinner dealt with cramps and had to retire early in the third set of his third-round match against Tallon Griekspoor. Sinner's cramps were likely caused by the humidity and dehydration.

Meanwhile, Medvedev is preparing to face Learner Tien for a place in thequarterfinal. It will be their second match 10 days as they also clashed against each other in the Beijing semifinal - the Russian retired while trailing 4-0 in the third set.
