Amanda Anisimova made light work of Coco Gauff 6-1 6-2 in the Beijing semifinal and became the only player in 2025 to have clinched wins against the reigning French Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek.
At this year's Wimbledon, Anisimova clinched probably the biggest win of her career when she upset world No. 1 Sabalenka 6-4 4-6 6-4 to reach her maiden Grand Slam final. Less than two months later, the 24-year-old American also defeated world No. 2 Swiatek 6-4 6-3 in the US Open quarterfinal.
On Saturday in Beijing, Anisimova played against Gauff for the first time since 2022. Going into the match, it was expected a tight battle without much separating the two. But in each set, the fourth-ranked American went 5-0 up before sealing the sets and registering a straight-set win.
