Stefanos Tsitsipas personally took to social media to shut down recent reports made about him as the two-time Grand Slam finalist says the reports of him undergoing surgery are false.
A couple of days ago, a Greek tennis site reported that Tsitsipas had a surgical procedure on his lower back - specifically a colectomy - on Thursday. The report also claimed that depending on the recovery process, the former world No. 3 would be sidelined between two to six weeks.
Naturally, the report raised concerns about Tsitsipas' participation in the upcoming Asian swing tournaments, as well as the Six Kings Slam. And after seeing what was being reported about his health, the current world No. 27 decided to react.

Tsitsipas: I haven't had surgery on my back and I'm doing well
Dear friends and supporters, in light of recent reports, I would like to clarify that I have not undergone back surgery and I am doing well. I am deeply grateful for your kind messages and continued support. Your concern means a great deal to me," the 27-year-old wrote in a message posted on his Instagram Story.
The report of Tsitsipas having back surgery may be false, but it is a well-known thing that his back has been causing problems to the Greek tennis star for quite some time. In one of his interviews from earlier this month, the 2021 French Open and 2023 Australian Open runner-up confirmed that he was still trying to find a solution to resolve his lingering back issue.
Tsitsipas is signed up to play at next week's ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, and that's where the Greek is expected to play his first tournament of the 2025 Asian swing.
