Irishman Shane Lowry, winner of the 2019 British Open, will participate in the Spanish Open, which will be held at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from October 9 to 12, along with Spaniards Jon Rahm and Sergio Garca, the tournament organizers announced in a statement.

Lowry, 38, ranked 24th in the world, already participated in last year's edition of the Madrid tournament, part of the DP World Tour, the European circuit.
The Irishman is one of twelve players on the European team that will compete against the United States in the Ryder Cup from October 26 to 28 in New York, which also includes Rahm.
