New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is standing firm after facing backlash for offering condolences to the family of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated last week in Utah.

Robinson first posted a message on social media with a photo of Kirks wife, Erika, and their two children, writing, I feel bad for his family.

That post sparked criticism from some fans, which led Robinson to fire back.

Im never the type to get into the political field, Robinson said, according to New York Basketball on X. But I just dont get how people get so sensitive and offended about someone elses opinion or beliefs.

Robinson then doubled down, telling detractors they were free to move on.

I respect your mindset and beliefs but its not gone change what I believe and stand for, he continued. You dont have to like me you can unfollow, unfriend me whatever you have to do to never see what I do or say I could care less about what you do or think of me!

The Knicks big man also spoke about why he made the post, pointing to fatherhood as his motivation.

I dont care if you black, white, green, or have stripes like a damn zebra or even like the same gender, I respect you either way! Robinson said. As a father myself, no kid should have to grow up without their father or mother at the end of the day!..I dont do the things I do for attention or cloutAgain, I could care less what people think of methe ones that know me already know what I stand for!
