United States President Donald Trump sent a letter to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to congratulate him and his country on the 27-year-old's latest success.
On Saturday, Sabalenka repeated as back-to-back US Open champion after defeating American Amanda Anisimova 6-3 7-6 (3). For the Belarusian tennis star, it was her second US Open title and overall her fourth Grand Slam victory since 2023.
The following day, Trump made his first appearance at Flushing Meadows since 2025 as he followed the men's final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. While Trump didn't watch the Sabalenka and Anisimova match, he was aware of what happened. And when congratulating Lukashenko, the United States President made sure to also wish all the best to the Belarusian people.

"We are equally pleased to acknowledge Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka's tremendous win at the US Open in New York. Before his first term as the United States President, the 79-year-oldused to often visit Flushing Meadows to watch some tennis. But after 2015 and being booed ahead of his first presidential campaign, he didn't make any appearances at the last Grand Slam of the season for a decade.
After watching Alcaraz beat Sinner in four sets, Trumpdeclared the two "unbelievable talents" and also noted that he "really enjoyed" watching the two top-ranked male players compete against each other.
