Holger Rune says Anna Kalinskaya misunderstood his messages and bluntly rejects the claims made by the Russian tennis star.
After a tennis fan stumbled upon a Kalinskaya conversation for the First&Red Channel, they posted about a part where the 32nd-ranked WTA star was if she was getting any interest from ATP players after dating Jannik Sinner and Nick Kyrgios in the past. That's when the 26-year-old Russian name-dropped Rune. And not only that, but she also claimed that the 22-year-old Danish tennis player was known as someone who messages "everyone."
Tennis players more often before. Now Im older. I dont know, for some, its just no chance at all. No need to write. Someone wrote like 10 times and then gave up. Ill say it now, but Holger Rune. He writes to everyone. He deserves all this. Thinks too much of himself. But hes not the only one. A couple [more]," Kalinskaya said on the First&Red Channel.
Rune laughs off the Kalinskaya claim
To no one's surprise, the Kalinskaya comments about Rune quickly went viral on X. And it quickly caught the attention of the 11th-ranked ATP player, who bluntly shut them down by writing: "Ha ha ha. We might have cultural differences that make Anna read a comment on a story as an invitation to a date. If I want to go on a date, I ask for a date. Dont worry,"
Early in her career, Kalinskaya dated Kyrgios. They called it quits on their relationship in mid-2020. In the spring of 2024, the Russian tennis star was spotted accompanied by Sinner. They publicly confirmed their relationship during last year's French Open, before revealing earlier this year that they had separated.
