During the September 9 episode, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa came out to reflect on a major milestom notneits been ten years since they first teamed up as #DIY. But their nostalgic moment was quickly cut short when Trick Williams stormed out to interrupt. Trick wasted no time throwing shots at the returning duo, claiming DIY is just jealous because their NXT crew cant handle mine.
Then came the twistCarmelo Hayes made his return to NXT and walked out to stand beside Trick. The former teammates were back together, but the reunion wasnt without tension.
Before getting down to business, Carmelo had a few things to get off his chest. He took aim at Tricks bold claims, including the idea that hes the greatest NXT Superstar of all time. Im just here to remind yourent is due, Hayes told Williams. Youve been squatting in my house.
Trick tried to walk things back, saying hell squat where I want to, but the tension lingered. Ciampa jumped in to ask whether this was a fight between big and little brother, but Hayes pivoted the conversationreminding #DIY that they had one of the worst backstabbing moments in NXT history.
Thats when Gargano made the challenge, and it was made official: Trick & Melo Gang will face Team #DIY at the NXT Homecoming episode on September 16.
