Jessica Pegula is showing her funny side again as the American tennis star grabbed a Honey Deuce cocktail following her heartbreaking US Open exit and joked about her bad luck.
After losing 5-7 5-7 to Aryna Sabalenka in her first Grand Slam final at the US Open last year, Pegula stumbled upon the world No. 1 in New York. This time, in the semifinal stage, and with the world No. 4 making a much better start and taking the opening set. Sadly for the home star and the local crowd, she didn't manage to get over the finish line as the Belarusian came back to win 4-6 6-3 6-4.

What happened in the third set was especially heartbreaking for Pegula. In the opening game, the American lost her serve. In the remainder of the set, the No. 4 seed didn't lose any points on her serve. But she also didn't convert any of her four break points across two separate games. Also, while she didn't have any break points when Sabalenka was serving out for the match, it was a very tight game.
Pegula grabs a cocktail and funnily roasts herself
"When you lost 4 points on serve in the 3rd but you lost the match," the 31-year-old captioned her X post.
Pegula is rightfully disappointed over what happened in the third set. And she made that clear as soon as she hit the press room on Thursday.
"Yeah, I thought it was really high-level I don't really know what else to say. I don't know how I didn't break back in the third...I think there were some things, very small things, I could have done different at the end, but it's, like, I mean, I'm nitpicking things," the home player said in her post-loss presser.
