Taylor Townsend may have fallen short of becoming a US Open champion but the home player kept it light following her doubles final loss as she hit the press room with a Honey Deuce cocktail in her hand and sipping it in front of media members.
Townsend and Katerina Siniakova, who formed a doubles team in mid-2024 and have since won last year's Wimbledon and this year's US Open, entered the US Open as the top seeds and the No. 1 favorites for the main glory. After they reached the final without a set dropped, everything appeared to be set for the duo to win their third Slam as a pair. But it didn't happen after they were upset 4-6 4-6 by No. 3 seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe in Friday's title match.

One would think that Townsend and Siniakova would be heartbroken about their US Open ending. But then, the American showed up with the US Open's iconic cocktail drink and funnily remarked that it was "for the media," before adding: "First question." The 29-year-old also asked her doubles partner Siniakova: "You want to go first?"
It was quite a campaign for Townsend at the US Open
After the ugly incident with Jelena Ostapenko and the support she received from the tennis community - including some fellow players - Townsend made the US Open round-of-16 in singles and also finished as runner-up in the women's doubles event. But, most importantly, more people got a chance to learn more about her. And according to the 29-year-old, she even earned recognition from Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.
Even Novak said something to me. Jannik said something to me. Like, Hey, like, you played really well, keep going, keep going. Everyone was watching. Even sometimes when you think, oh, nobody is [watching], whatever, but they're watching. For them to actually go out of their way to comment something to me, it means everything," Townsend said.
