Emma Navarro finally delivered a very strong performance as the American tennis star ousted fellow compatriot Caty McNally 6-2 6-1 to safely reach the US Open third round.
After starting the match by claiming a break in the very first game of the match, the No. 11 seed instantly blew it in the following game. However, the 2024 US Open semifinalist remained perfectly calm, breaking McNally again in the third and seventh games to bag the opening set.
Up by a set, Navarro soon went up by a double break in the second set after winning the opening three games. While McNally managed to get one break back in the fourth game, it wasn't of much help since the No. 11 seed took her rival's serve again in the fifth and seventh games to complete the job in straight sets.

Navarro delivered a much more balanced performance as she hit 10 winners, had only nine unforced errors, and also impressively converted seven of her eight break point chances.
In the US Open third round, the home star plays against the winner of the match between Barbora Krejcikova and Moyuka Uchijima.
Navarro wins routinely after struggling for some time
On July 3rd, Navarro routed Veronika Kudermetova 6-1 6-2 in the Wimbledon second round. After that, the American tennis star started struggling heavily with her game and losing more than winning - she arrived at the US Open riding a three-match losing streak, before saving a couple of set points against Wang Yafan and winning 7-6 (9) 6-3.
Last year, Navarro made her maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open. Now, the 24-year-old is certainly hoping to have another big run and change her situation in one of the best ways possible.
