AEWs weekly viewership is always a huge topic of discussion online, but it seems Tony Khan has now seemingly walked back a viewership report that he previously said was accurate.
While speaking during the post AEW Forbidden Door media scrum, Tony Khan was asked if AEW is hitting the million mark between cable and Max with live and same-day viewers.
Khan admitted he wasnt sure, saying that while a report suggested they might be, he didnt have the exact numbers. What he did know is that AEW ranks as one of the top sports shows. He compared AEWs performance on MAX to NHL streaming, noting that AEW likely has a strong chance of being a major presence in the Sports tab on HBO MAX .
Khan also mentioned that there will be more opportunities to build relationships with HBO Max in the future. However, he stated that he doesnt have nearly the same amount of detailed data from MAX as he gets from TBS, and if he did, he would be analyzing it thoroughly.
This comes after Tony Khan was asked aboutBethels report that AEW Dynamite gets 500,000 viewers on MAX and said it matched what hes been hearing behind the scenes. He said it was exciting news for AEW and that thereport fits with the information hes received.
Its certainly interesting that Tony Khan just decided to walk back on the viewership report that he was previously so confident about. Regardless, well have to see whether AEW will eventually see a consistent increase in viewership and possibly reach the 1 million mark again.
