Patrick Beverley has never been shy about sharing strong opinions, and hes shared an interesting one surrounding his former teammate Paul George and Klay Thompson.
The former Clippers guard claimed that Golden States dynasty could have been even more dominant had Paul George, not Klay Thompson, been Stephen Currys running mate, on a recent episode of The Pat Bev Podcast.
If you put Paul George in that role as Klay Thompson, you know, playing with Steph, Draymond Green, Iguodala at a point, obviously, we know Paul George. But we know Paul George was, you know, a couple years ago, he was in the MVP race, Beverley said. If you substitute them two, right, I think, and we dont know, but were just going off what we think in basketball, I think that Golden State probably wins more championships.

Beverleys comments questioning Thompsons long-standing role as Currys backcourt partner are certainly something.
His ability to thrive off the ball made him an ideal fit alongside Currys movement-heavy style. Is that an environment Paul George would have thrived in?
Back in 2024, when the Warriors were linked to George as a possible replacement for Klay, ESPNs Stephen A. Smith made it clear why he didnt think the move would work.
I just dont view him as a catch-and-shoot guy, Smith said. I view him as somebodythat has the potential to disrupt their rhythm. Hes better suited for the Clippers. Hes better suited for Philadelphia. He would have been better suited for the New York Knicks, to some degree, rather than Golden State. Thats just how I view it. I could be wrong.
Since George is entering the twilight years of his career, it looks as though well never get to test the PG-13 / Steph Curry combo out.
