The PGA Tour will return next year to Trump National Doral, the golf club owned by the US president in Miami-Dade County, after nearly a decade in which the tour distanced itself from Donald Trump's courses, coinciding with his arrival at the White House in 2017.

The main US men's professional golf tour released its schedule for the upcoming season on Tuesday, which includes a tournament at Trump National Doral in Miami from April 27 to May 3.
It will also receive "Signature Event" status, which implies a larger prize pool$20 millionand the participation of the top-ranked players.
This golf club, located in Miami, left the PGAcalendar in 2016, coinciding with the then-Republican candidate's first presidential campaign.
However, its courses continued to host tournaments on the Saudi-funded LIV Golf, the PGA's main rival due to the significant financial incentives it offers. The last two editions were won by Spaniard Jon Rahm.

Trump and senior PGA officials have held meetings in recent years, and the current White House resident claimed during the last election campaign that he was capable of closing a deal between the PGA and LIV Golf.
The Trump Organization also announced on social media this Tuesday the return of the PGA Tour to the Miami club, specifically the Blue Monster course, which it described as "one of the most famous and challenging golf courses."
