The American team has an imperative to celebrate at this year's Ryder Cup. A huge advantage for the American team will be playing on home soil, and in addition they have a strong roster led by Scottie Scheffler, who can also create problems for the European team.
On the other hand, the Europeans also have a good roster, but they seem to operate a shade weaker, with the American team looking to take advantage of such an opportunity.
The generation led by Rory McIlroy is optimistic and believes that they can finally win on the away court. However, the greatest attention is focused on Keegan Bradley, who has a serious task ahead of him, considering that in seven days he will have to select six players who could further strengthen the team.
Vice-captain, Brandt Snedeker, reflected on Keegan's decisions during an appearance on the Sky Sports Golf podcast. He emphasized the freedom of decisions given that Bradley is the captain of this team.
No matter what kind of players he chose, it is clear that criticism and reactions from the public will follow. Every fan and expert has a golfer they want to see on the team, but all the responsibility will be on Bradley.
"I think Keegan has been great with all his vice-captains," Snedeker said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
"He wants to say, 'OK, take me out of the room, who would you want to pick, and let's all go over from that stand point'.
Everyone has got a different opinion. We all have some somebody we believe can bring a different value to the team or whatever it may be, then we all kind of sit down and hash it out.
At the end of the day, this is Keegan's team. He has put two years of his life into this. I can't say how impressed I've been about how much work, energy, effort he's put into it and how open he's been with us as vice-captains about including us in the process."
The pressure
Having a role like this means you have to be mentally strong and ready for anything.
Keegan knew even before he agreed to the role that the public would have interesting reactions and that there would be enormous pressure on him.
However, being captain is a special honor, being hard to pass up such an opportunity.
