Jannik Sinner refuses to criticize the two-week Masters format but admits that he prefers one-week tournaments.
In the past, only Indian Wells and Miami hosted Masters tournaments that lasted more than seven days. But a lot has changed in recent years as five more tournaments from the 1000-category have extended their format - from having a larger draw to taking 11-13 days for the tournament to finish. And it is not a secret that certain players are very opposed to the format change, arguing that one-weekevents were perfect.
For Sinner, extended Masters draws and formats haven't been an issue since he claimed three titles from the 1000-category last year. This year, the Italian hasn't won any Masters titles - but it should be noted that he missed Indian Wells, Miami and Madrid due to his doping ban, while he also skipped Toronto. However, he has made the Cincinnati final and will have a chance to lift his first title from the Masters category on Monday.

Sinner: Personally, I love the one-week events
Its a question thats quite irrelevant now to answer because we are in that position. My personal viewI love the one-week events. I love it when you see that the tournament in Monaco, for example, you have for Monte Carlo, you have this one-week event, and you have the first-round matches, which are incredibly good. And if one good seeded player loses, the next match is an incredible match still, and you have the quarterfinals and you know exactly when you buy the tickets," the world No. 1 said.
Sinner, who had a first-round bye in Cincinnati, started his campaign at the tournament on August 9th by taking on Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros. Today, on August 18th, he plays against Alcaraz in the final.
Sinner won his first Cincinnati title last year and he is currently on a nine-match winning streak at the tournament.
