Grand Slam tournaments are Novak Djokovic's main goals at this stage of his career, and the former world No.1 is doing everything he can to make tennis history once again, becoming the oldest player ever to triumph in a Major (a record currently held by Ken Rosewall).
The Serbian legend who has not lifted a title of this importance since the 2023 US Open has had the ability to raise his level in the most important events of 2025 and has reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon Championships, but has failed to go further on any of these three occasions.
His decision to skip the Canadian Open in Toronto and the Cincinnati Masters 1000 has left everyone quite perplexed, considering that the 38-year-old from Belgrade will show up in New York without having played any official match on the hard courts since the Miami Open final against Jakub Mensik in the spring.

Nole is focused on the US Open
Over the past month, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has been having fun with his family and friends between Croatia and Greece before returning to practice in Montenegro. In addition, Nole ended up at the center of attention because his family - which owns the Belgrade ATP 250 - decided to move the tournament from the Serbian capital to Athens (Greece), generating discontent among his compatriots who criticized him for this choice.
In a recent interview with 'Sportklub', Serbian veteran Dusan Lajovic was asked if his compatriot Djokovic still has a chance to win a Grand Slam: "The truth is that for most other players not playing any tournament before a Major would have a negative effect, but Novak is special.
The first three rounds of a Major are almost a warm-up for a player like him, if you consider his results and statistics. It will be interesting to see what happens in New York."
