R-Truth definitely got fans interested when he adopted a more serious character earlier this year, but he ultimately went back to his comedy routine recently. Following this change, Truth has now explained why he wont go back to being a serious character.
While speaking on The Rap on Wrestling podcast, R-Truth was asked if he would ever have a proper run as a serious character, leading to him eventually winning a World Title in WWE.
Truth said fans have already seen him be serious before, like when he was Ron The Truth Killings and during the Little Jimmy storyline. Many people want him to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but he feels his biggest win came outside of WWE, when over a hundred million people around the world showed him love, empathy, and support.
Truth called himself the real Peoples Champion and said that at 53 years old, hes more popular than ever. Hes had many different characters and storylines, but those millions of fans connected with the version of him that made them feel something special. For him, theres no need to change whats already working.
This comes after R-Truth returned to his comedy gimmick after having a memorable segment with John Cena on the August 8th edition of SmackDown, even though people really werent happy about it. Regardless, fans just have to accept Truth wont be a serious character again and thats not going to change.
Do you think R-Truth could still have a successful serious run, or is his comedic persona the best fit for him now? Sound off in the comments.
