Eugenie Bouchard had one very funny moment shortly after concluding her pro tennis career as the 31-year-old asked the tennis media if they knew about any tennis job openings that she could work.

After appearing in only two tournaments last year, the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up only played her first match of the 2025 season in early July before revealing her plans to retire in Montreal.

Five years ago, Bouchard sustained a shoulder injury that turned out to be more serious than expected. In 2021, the former world No. 5 was offered a gig at Tennis Channel and she accepted it. After making her post-surgery return, the Canadian didn't get her desired results.

In Montreal, the 31-year-old admitted that she reached the point where she didn't feel like continuing her career and that's when she decided to put an end on her pro tennis chapter.

Speaking with the media following her Montreal second-round loss to Belinda Bencic, Bouchard jokingly suggested that it could be hard for her to get some jobs because she doesn't have a degree, before playfully asking for a job in tennis broadcasting.

Bouchard: I didn't go to school... Are any of you guys hiring?

"I feel like I missed out because I didn't go to college and didn't go to school," she said. "Diving into the TV stuff more is definitely something I enjoy, so that's a probable next step. I mean, are any of you guys hiring (laughing)? I don't know how to even write - what do you even call it when you ..." the 2014 Wimbledon finalist said.

After being told that she was probably searching for the word "resume," Bouchard confirmed.

"I don't even have one of those. Maybe my agent can come up with one for me. I'm not used to doing that," she added.

In recent years, Bouchard also switched to pro pickleball. When reflecting on her decision to retire from pro tennis, she admitted that being in pro pickleball impacted her decision to walk away from the first sport she started to play professionally.
