Veronika Kudermetova says Holger Rune recently slid into her DMs but she was quick to make it clear to him that she was married.
What seems like a recent podcast appearance, the Russian tennis player seemingly touched on her love life when she revealed that Rune tried to shoot his shot. The two-time WTA champion quickly realized the intention behind it and just told the 22-year-old Dane to look up to her Instagram photos - she has selfies with her husband.
The ninth-ranked ATP player instantly realized what Kudermetova was trying to say and he stopped sending messages. Not only that, but he also stopped greeting the 28-year-old Russian in public.
Kudermetova: Rune texted me, I told him, 'Boy, I'm probably too old for you'
"Rune recently texted me. I told him, 'Boy, I'm probably too old for you. If you looked at my Instagram, youd see I have a husband.' He replied, 'Oh, sorry.' After that, he stopped saying hi to me," the 42nd-ranked WTA player said.
Kudermetova is married to Sergei Demekhine, who has been her coach since she was 15 - they tied the knot in 2017.
"At 16, I liked him, but I didnt think about anything else. Its probably my upbringing that influenced me. Such thoughts were unacceptable to me," the Russian tennis star explained.
Meanwhile, both Kudermetova and Rune are competing in Canada this week.
The Russian female tennis star kicked off her Montreal with two wins and she is set to play against Coco Gauff in the third round.
On the other side, the Dane had a first-round bye before overcoming Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard. The ATP world No. 9 meets next Alexandre Muller.
