WWE brought an important episode of NXT to fans on July 29. Ethan Page showed up to put his title on the line against a long-time fan favorite.
Santino Marella had quite a run on WWEs main roster. Now he is TNA Wrestlings Director of Authority, and that called for him to put his foot down last week. The tamer of the Cobra made it official last week that he will challenge Ethan Page for his championship this week.
The NXT Arena saw quite a match as Santino Marella and Ethan Page went head-to-head. This match received a lot of hype throughout the show, and it served as the main event of the night.
The two started out with some classic amateur wrestling moves, as Santino and Page tried to gain the upperhand. Fans mocked Page with some chants as Joe Hendry appeared on the screen once again.
Ethan Page got the upperhand on Santino Marella, but he couldnt close down the match. Then Marella was able to take control, and fans chanted You Still Got It! at him. Suddenly, Page was able to level Santino with a big boot to regain control.
Eventually, Santino Marella was able to rally and he pulled out his Cobra. The referee got in the way and Ethan nailed a thumb to the eye before hitting his finisher to pin the TNA Director of Authority. Santino lost in clean fashion, but it was a hard-fought match.
We will have to see what happens next in WWE and TNA Wrestlings ongoing partnership. It certainly resulted in a very interesting match this week.
