Iga Swiatek has just won her first match since Wimbledon and she did it in routine fashion after ousting Guo Hanyu 6-3 6-1 in just over an hour of play.
After winning her maiden Wimbledon title, the Polish tennis superstar made a lightning start to her Montreal opener, breaking the 259th-ranked qualifier twice in a row to open a 4-0 lead. While the Chinese managed to get one break back in the fifth game, it didn't disrupt the six-time Grand Slam champion, who held on to her second break to seal the opener.
Up by a set, Swiatek also started the second set with an early break, but dropped her serve for the first time in the following game. But once again, she remained unfazed - won the next five games - to complete her win in straight sets.

Swiatek got to work shortly after winning Wimbledon
In her pre-tournament Montreal presser, Swiatek admitted that it wasn't easy to get back to work after achieving her dream. But, she still remained true to herself and did her best to be as ready as possible for the summer on hard courts.
"Reaching the top is a challenge. It requires mental strength and a lot of consistency. You always have to be ready for every tournament, both physically and mentally. Becoming the player everyone wants to defeat is one of the most difficult things. It's been a very busy couple of weeks, but I'm very happy. Winning Wimbledon was a dream come true. I went back to work with my team to get used to the new conditions and the new surface. I'm glad I arrived a little early to train and prepare. I'm really looking forward to playing the tournament," Swiatek said after arriving in Montreal.
