The June 20 episode of WWE SmackDown was a big show. They rolled into the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and fans were ready for a big show.
The King of the Ring tournament saw a big match as they determined one of the men who will compete at Night of Champions. Randy Orton and Sami Zayn threw down in quite a match.
This match went down during the second hour of the show. Before it went down, all four men in the King of the Ring semifinals, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Randy Orton, and Sami Zayn had a promo in the ring where they hashed things out.
Randy Orton and Sami Zayns match got started in quick fashion, but then Randy Orton moved himself to ringside so he could slow things down. Eventually, Orton nailed a suplex on the announce table as they cut to commercial.
Zayn was fighting to claim his first World Title, something he really wants. Orton wants his 15th title reign. The two fought hard, with Zayn getting an advantage after Orton took his shoulder to the post, but he reversed a Helluva Kick into a powerslam for a close near fall.
After a Blue Thunder Bomb, Sami Zayn got another two count, because everyone kicks out of that move. This is Awesome chants came out of the crowd as Zayn climbed the top rope, but then Orton missed an RKO before nailing one outta nowhere for the win. Now Randy Orton will go on to wrestle in Saudi Arabia.
We will have to see how the chips fall as we get a bit closer to Night of Champions. WWE Night of Champions 2025 will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
