Oba Femi is still the Ruler of NXT.
WWEs NXT brand brought a big premium live event for Battleground at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The Memorial Day show also included an impressive NXT Title match.
Myles Borne surprised fans when he won a #1 contender battle royal. Since then, hes received a push and some have looked at him as a real contender for Oba Femis NXT Title. Of course, The Ruler needed to be convinced.
This match received a nice video package for Myles Borne before it kicked off. The No Quarter Catch Crew walked Borne out, but they did not follow him to the ring. Oba Femi received a nice entrance, and the contest received a big fight feel thanks to Mike Romes ring introductions.
The two competitors spent some time feeling each other out, but it eventually developed into a slugfest. Borne tried to get control, thanks to his speed, but Oba Femi simply backed him into the corner to slow him down.
The match continued and they ended up on the apron, where Oba almost hit a suplex, but Borne knocked him off with a dropkick. However, Bornes attempt at a dive was stopped short with a forearm. Then Oba Femi took control of the match.
The match continued, with Myles Borne landing a spike DDT, but Oba Femi moved out of the way to avoid a dive. Borne countered a Fall From Grace from Femi, and then he caught Femi in a German Suplex to send the champion flying. Borne almost got the win after nailing a frog splash from the top rope, but he let Femi get back on his feet. Borne hit a dropkick too, but then Femi nailed an uppercut and a Fall From Grace for a two count.
Oba Femi eventually got ahold of Myles Borne, where he launched him across the ring. Then he nailed two Fall From Grace finishers to retain the NXT Title in commanding fashion.
That advantage for Oba Femi ended when Myles Borne was able to hit a high risk dive over the top rope to the floor. However, Oba didnt let him get a pinfall that easily.
