WWEs NXT brand held the Battleground premium live event at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The Memorial Day weekend event included several matches, including one for the NXT Womens Championship.
Stephanie Vaquer defended the NXT Womens Championship at Battleground. She previously retained the title at Stand & Deliver in a fatal four-way match involving Jordynne Grace and Giulia. Things kept heating up from there for Vaquer.
Eventually, Jordynne Grace won a #1 contender match against Giulia to face Vaquer at Battleground. After that, Giulia was called up to the SmackDown brand, and she is now set for the 2025 Womens Money in the Bank ladder match.
This match went on midway through the premium live event. Fans were all for seeing those two go toe-to-toe, and the contest received a big fight feel thanks to the ring introductions. They traded holds and tried their best to gain a foothold in the match to maintain control, but neither side gave any ground easily.
There were some near falls, and fans counted loudly with every pinfall attempt. Jordynne Grace nailed a suplex from the top followed by a jackhammer, but it wasnt enough to win the match. The contest continued as fans chanted, this is awesome.
Stephanie Vaquer almost got a pinfall, but Jordynne Grace went into Beast Mode to pick her up. Vaquer fought to get out of it, and she fired off a kick that sent Grace to the apron. Eventually, the two were on the mat selling their injuries from the match. They went to the outside and Vaquer sent Grace through the barricade as fans chanted, holy sh*t.
They moved back to the ring and Jordynne Grace kicked out after Stephanie Vaquers finisher, and fans exploded. Grace fought out of Vaquers hold and they started trading forearm shots. Eventually, Vaquer nailed her finisher once more to pick up the clean win and retain her NXT Womens Title.
We will keep a close eye on the NXT Womens Division. After all, you never know what can happen, especially if the roster keeps seeing some of their biggest names called up to the WWE main roster.
