The fallout from WWE canceling the May 27 episode of NXT on The CW is still being feltand now, Vince Russo is weighing in. The former WWE head writer says hes glad it happened, calling it a long-overdue reality check for a company thats been charging fans too much for too long.
During a segment on The Wrestling Outlaw via WrestleBinge, Russo didnt hold back when reacting to the report that WWE pulled the NXT taping at Tampas Yuengling Center due to poor ticket salesreportedly fewer than 1,700 seats were sold.
Russo said the four-night WWE stretch in TampaMain Event, Battleground, Raw, and NXTwas simply too much for the average fan to afford.
He went on to say this could be the wake-up call WWE needs.
Russos reaction follows a now-viral video from Jonathan Coachman, who earlier this week slammed WWE and TKO for the cancellation. Coachman called the decision a sign that WWEs financial-first mindset has gone too farand warned that the fans are finally saying enough is enough.
With both Russo and Coachman now publicly calling out WWEs pricing and planning, its clear this isnt just about one canceled show. Its about the cost of loyaltyand whether WWE is truly listening to the fans who built its empire.
