The criminal trial for pro wrestling legend 2 Cold Scorpio has officially been pushed back.
The former ECW and WCW starreal name Charles Scaggswas originally set to face a jury on June 21, but both legal teams have now agreed to a delay. His trial will now begin on November 3 in Kansas City, Missouri, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for October 23.
Scaggs, 59, was arrested on June 15, 2024, following a violent confrontation at a Loves Travel Stop where he was working as a security guard. According to authorities, the altercation began when Scaggs asked a man to put out a cigarette. The situation escalated into a heated exchange that moved outside, ending with the man being stabbed multiple times.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized, later identified Scaggs as the person responsible.
Scaggs has pleaded not guilty to two felony charges: first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
Since the arrest, the impact on his wrestling career has been severe. Scaggs was pulled from a scheduled GCW tour in Japan and has had other bookings quietly dropped. Before the incident, he last competed in April for GCW in Los Angeles, where he continued to perform at a high level despite his age.
Still, some from the wrestling world have rallied behind him. Former ECW names like The Sandman, Tod Gordon, and Bill Alfonso have reportedly expressed their support for Scaggs and are assisting with his legal defense.
As one of the most respected high-flyers of the 1990s, 2 Cold Scorpio made a name for himself in WCW, WWF (as Flash Funk), ECW, and Japan. But now, his legacy may hang in the balance as he prepares to fight for his freedom in court.
