Sammy Guevara is known for flying high and crashing hardbut now hes trying to think smarter inside the ring.
Ahead of AEW Double or Nothing, where hell team with Dustin Rhodes to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Titles, Guevara opened up to PWInsider about the toll his style has takenand how becoming a father changed his outlook on wrestling.
When I first became a dad, I said Id take it easier and then every match after that, I was jumping off ladders through tables, Guevara admitted.
Known for wild spots like his unforgettable cage dive during the 2022 Blood & Guts match, Guevara has long embraced a go-big-or-go-home mentality. But these days, that mindset is shifting. Yeah, I try to be smarter about it now. Wrestling is a high-risk game, especially with my style, he said.
Fatherhood hasnt made him softits made him strategic. You have to ask yourself: when is the risk worth it? Guevara asked, before adding, This Sunday, it might be.
With the AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line at Double or Nothing, Guevara might find himself making that call in real timewhether to play it safe or go for the kind of high-flying stunt that made him a star in the first place.
