WWE Abruptly Cancels NXT CW Taping in Tampa

The cancellation comes as a surprise, especially since WWE had already distributed approximately 1,700 tickets for the event.

The show was supposed to be part of a massive Memorial Day weekend takeover in Tampa, which also features Saturday Nights Main Event, NXT Battleground on May 25, and Monday Night Raw on Memorial Day itself. Those events are still going strong, with both Saturday Nights Main Event and RAW nearly sold out and Battleground already having surpassed 6,000 tickets distributed.

Ticketmaster posted the following notice regarding the NXT cancellation: Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. You dont need to do a thing. Well issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 1421 days. They added, If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.

WrestleTix, a reliable ticket tracking source on Twitter/X, echoed the news: WWEs NXT Live on the CW event, originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, has been canceled. At the time of cancellation, approximately 1,700 tickets had been distributed.

No official explanation has been given by WWE for why this specific taping was canceled, especially with such a strong slate of events surrounding it. Triple H did appear at the WWE Bad Blood press conference to talk about WWEs current momentum and Goldberg potentially wrestling again, but no mention was made of the NXT change.

With WWE putting heavy promotion behind its revamped NXT brand and the launch on The CW, this cancellation has raised eyebrowsespecially with the other Tampa shows doing so well in terms of attendance.
