The May 12th edition of Monday Night Raw saw GUNTHER announcing he would get a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship next month against Jey Uso. Fans have been wondering why WWE even booked this rematch, and now the reason behind it has been revealed.
While speaking during aQ&A session on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, WrestleVotes was asked why WWE is booking a rematch between Jey Uso and GUNTHER after Money in the Bank.
WrestleVotes noted that its because GUNTHER is owed a rematch, and the match will help set up a new storyline involving him. Its also a way to keep GUNTHER off the Money in the Bank card and instead feature him on a major episode of Monday Night Raw.
Jey Uso will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul at Saturday Nights Main Event on May 24th and GUNTHER made it clear he was going to challenge the winner of the bout, but the segment made it evident the Ring General will be facing Jey Uso again.
The rematch will be taking place on the June 9th edition of Monday Night Raw in Phoenix, Arizona. Therefore, we will have to wait and see whether GUNTHER will end up winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again when all is said and done.
