The Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, have been on an absolute tear since joining WWE last year. However, it appears that Shelley previously received a contract offer from WWE and he has now explained why he turned it down.
While speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Alex Shelley talked about his prior contacts with WWE before signing last year. He noted that WWE offered him a contract before the pandemic.
However, Alex Shelley turned down the offer because of the pandemic, saying he was unsure about signing a wrestling contract because of how unpredictable the entertainment industry was at the time. Like many others, he didnt know what the future held.
Obviously, Alex Shelley made the right call for his career at the time, but he and Chris Sabin are now bona fide WWE Superstars who ended up winning the WWE Tag Team Championships last year.
Shelleys decision to delay signing during an uncertain time may have been hard, but it ultimately paved the way for an even bigger opportunity in WWE. Therefore, well have to wait and see whats next for the Motor City Machine Guns as they remain a highlight on WWE television.
