Karrion Kross is paying tribute to Sabu following the ECW legends passing.
In a heartfelt video posted to Twitter on May 14, Kross opened up about his memories of Sabu and what made the hardcore icon such a standout figure in the wrestling world.
I met Sabu dozens of times. Usually, it was on indie shows or conventions, Kross said. Him and Melissa outside the ring wonderful people. Especially Sabu, he was always good to me and everybody around me.
Kross recalled first discovering Sabu during the ECW era and how the unpredictable, hardcore style made Sabu one of the most compelling wrestlers to watch. There were just certain guys in ECW that hit different from mainstream wrestling, and he was one of them, he said.
For Kross, Sabus mystique was undeniable. When you put the TV on and you were watching him, even as a teenager or an adult, you were just like, theres something different about this guy, he said. You talk about innovation and just a hardcore icon for wrestling a person who changed everything. Hes that guy.
Reflecting on Sabus legacy, Kross urged fans to celebrate his life and career. Take some time to celebrate Sabu today, guys, Kross concluded.
