WWE is pulling out all the stops for John Cenas final match, and theyre making cities pay up for the privilege of hosting the monumental event.
According to James Stewart of 98.5 The Sports Hub, WWE has officially packaged John Cenas Final Match as a weekend-long spectacle and is seeking a $1.5 million financial commitment from prospective host cities.
The proposed schedule includes a full week of events, starting on December 10, 2025, with community outreach initiatives, followed by an Undertaker live show on December 11, a Friday Night SmackDown broadcast on December 12, and culminating in Saturday Nights Main Event on December 13, where Cena is slated to wrestle his last WWE match.
Stewart added that WWE began the bidding process just two days after the Royal Rumble in February, aiming to lock in a host city by the end of April. While Boston has been widely speculated as the frontrunner and even suggested by Cenas father, John Cena Sr. WWE has yet to confirm the official location.
The move to auction off Cenas farewell weekend aligns with WWEs strategy of maximizing revenue from marquee events. The proposed takeover model not only includes Cenas farewell bout but also high-profile appearances from The Undertaker, along with fan-focused events aimed at creating a citywide WWE takeover.
As for Cena himself, hes currently on his 2025 retirement tour and recently defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WWE Backlash. His remaining appearances include major shows like Money in the Bank in Los Angeles and Clash in Paris before the December finale.
With WWE asking for $1.5 million, will Boston step up and secure the rights to Cenas final match, or could another city swoop in to host the wrestling icons farewell? Stay tuned as this story develops.
