The May 2 episode of WWE SmackDown took place at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. The show moved forward as they prepared for Backlash with key segments and confrontations.
Nia Jax addressed Tiffany Stratton after Strattons win over Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41 to retain the Womens World Title. Jax was the first to step up and face Stratton, and they carried a long history since Stratton had taken the title from Jax.
The Irresistible Force made her way to the ring as the first hour of the show closed out this week. Fans were quick to boo Nia Jax as she mocked them about coming back to a chorus of boos.
Nia Jax said that shes been refocusing since shes been out of action. She wants the WWE Womens Title, and then Tiffany Stratton came out to confront her. Stratton wasnt happy, as she had a news flash for Nia Jax, because shes not the same woman that Jax used to bully around.
Tiffany Stratton brought up how she beat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41. She also said if she ever locks up with Nia Jax again, shes beating her again. Stratton enjoyed her Tiffy Time chants from fans as she pointed out that she doesnt make the matches, but shes not shying away from a fight.
Stratton said that shed fight Nia Jax any time and anywhere. That is when Naomi came out to interrupt. She brought up how Tiffany always helped Nia Jax when Naomi was trying to win the title months ago, and they put her through hell. Naomi said shes changed, as she is no longer the good girl. She was out there to take what she believes was hers.
Jade Cargill came out next, and she went after Naomi. Then he ran Naomi and Nia Jax out of the ring. After that, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis came out to book a tag team match with Naomi and Nia Jax against Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill.
That match went on during the main event of the night. The two teams wrestled through a commercial break, and Nia Jax was able to gain control over Jade Cargill, thanks to her size advantage. Then Naomi tagged in and applied some punishment on the former AEW TBS Champion.
Nia Jax squashed Naomi and put her partner out of the ring. She did the same with Tiffany Stratton before turning their attention to Jade Cargill. Then, Jade was able to land a powerbomb off the top rope for the pinfall. After the match was over, Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton both wanted to hold the title. That is when Naomi jumped Cargill from behind, and then she proceeded to pose with the WWE Womens Championship as the show closed out. She certainly sent a message as she wants the title. Sadly for her, shes not in the #1 contender match scheduled for next week.
We will keep a very close eye on the womens division in WWE. At this point, you never know what will pop off next to surprise fans and spark new attention.
