WWEs post-WrestleMania trimming spree just claimed another pair of familiar facesthis time its former Womens Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. According to Fightful Select, both Superstars were quietly released as part of the ongoing wave of talent cuts hitting the company this week.
Katana and Kayden were among WWEs most consistent tag teams in recent years. After grinding through NXT for several years, the duo finally captured the NXT Womens Tag Team Titles in 2022 and held them for a record-setting run. Their chemistry, energy, and in-ring style made them fan favorites and fixtures on the black-and-gold brand.
In 2023, they were called up to the main roster and brought their electric tandem offense to RAW, where they eventually captured the WWE Womens Tag Team Championships from Chelsea Green and Piper Niven in late 2023. Despite their momentum, they were often underutilized in the tag division, which has struggled with consistent booking across the board.
Their release is part of a growing list of cuts that includes Braun Strowman and Shayna Baszlershowing that even recent champions and active performers arent immune from WWEs quiet restructuring under the TKO Group.
WWE has not publicly confirmed the news, and no statement has been made by either Chance or Carter as of now.
Do you think WWE shouldve done more with Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, or was their release inevitable given the state of the tag division? Let us know in the comments.
