Just days after WWE raked in record profits at WrestleMania 41, the company quietly dropped the axe on several longtime employeesmost notably, Senior Vice President of Creative Writing Operations Christine Lubrano. Now, we finally know why.
According to Dave Meltzers Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Lubranos role was seen as redundant. What we were told is that a lot of what she was doing was duplicating work being covered by Bruce Prichard and other executive assistants, Meltzer reported. He also made it clear this wasnt a personal decision. It was not an individual firing but part of a number of people let go in different departments for cost-cutting reasons.
Lubrano was a key figure in WWEs creative operations, overseeing strategy for RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. She joined the company in 2021 and quickly became a high-ranking voice in scripted storytelling. But despite her influence and tenure, she was part of the April 30 layoffs that hit multiple departments including Creative Services and Photography.
WWE hasnt issued an official statement on the firings, but earlier reports indicated that between 10 and 12 staffers were releasedwith more possibly on the chopping block. The cuts come just weeks after WWE celebrated what they called the most successful WrestleMania in history. The two-night spectacle brought in 124,693 fans at Allegiant Stadium and shattered previous records in revenue, merch sales, and hospitality packages.
Still, even with all that success, WWEunder the TKO Group umbrellacontinues to trim staff behind the scenes. So far, no in-ring talent were cut in this round, but WWE has shifted toward quietly letting contracts expire rather than headline-making releases. This year alone, big names like Sonya Deville and Carmella werent renewed.
Christine Lubranos departure is another sign that even top executives arent safe under TKOs tightening grip.
