Fresh off his TNA World Title win at Bound For Glory, Leon Slater had an opportunity to become a double champion when he and Amazing Red challenged the Nemeth brothers for the TNA Tag Team Championships on Thursday night's episode of "Impact." Unfortunately for Slater, things ultimately didn't pan out in his favor. With Trey Miguel on commentary, Red and Nic Nemeth kicked off the action with a lock-up, which the latter turned into a headlock. Quick tags allowed the defending champions to gain momentum by double-teaming their challengers. Slater eventually stopped it, though, by unloading a series of right hands on Nic in the corner. Red followed suit before nailing Ryan with a dropkick. When Red and Slater sought to deliver a double dive next, the Nemeth brothers retreated up the entrance ramp to prevent them from doing so. Uninterested in continuing, the champions then ran around the ring to grab their tag titles, looking to leave with them. Instead, they found themselves cornered and subsequently slammed against the steel steps. In the match's closing moments, Slater blasted Nic with a forearm. Before Red could then gain a pinfall on his brother, however, Ryan drove the referee into Slater to break things up. A tag title belt shot to Slater followed, as did one to Red. When the referee finally got back to his feet, Nic hit the Danger Zone on Red for the win. With it, Nic and Ryan officially retained the TNA Tag Team Championships, titles they reclaimed by defeating The Hardys at TNA Lockdown.
