JJ Redick is encouraged by what he has seen offensively, but believes his team is still capable of taking another step. The Lakers backed up their impressive start with a dominant 138-117 win over the Miami Heat on Monday, shooting 57.3% from the field and 44.2% from three-point range.Luka Doncic led the way with 42 points and 13 assists, while Austin Reaves added 27 points as Los Angeles recorded 39 assists on 51 made baskets its highest total since Redick took over as head coach.Redick was particularly pleased with how his team responded to Miamis attempts to take the ball out of Doncics hands through double-teams and aggressive blitzes.I think theres always room for improvement, Redick said. I thought the way we handled them double-teaming and firing and blitzing Luka in the first half was about as good as you can hope for in the eighth game of the season.I thought all the guys were very decisive with their closeout reads. The thing we talked about before the game was just shoot, drive, kick it, just a lot of .5 decision making, we had them running around the court. The Lakers ball movement was a major highlight, with Redick also crediting Lukas ability to draw defenders and create opportunities for his teammates. We had 39 assists, the most assists weve had since Ive been the HBC so its a really good offense that were playing right now and a lot of that of course is Doncic and what hes able to do and bend the defense, he added. His shot making creates a lot of problems and then he can make every pass. I thought AR again with another game where he was super patient. And I thought in that second half just getting downhill, particularly in early offense and touching the paint was really good. The Lakers rank first in the NBA in offensive rating, field-goal percentage and true shooting percentage.READ MORE: Luka Doncic Gets Real About Narrative Surrounding His Defense
