AEW's Darby Allin has never met a death defying stunt he couldn't handle, or a mountain he couldn't climb, such as Mount Everest. So it would only make sense that the current AEW TNT Champion would attempt to run the New York City marathon without having trained for it, and finish the race anyway. Taking to Instagram on Sunday afternoon, Allin posted a photo of himself with the TNT Championship and a medal at the marathon's finish line."NYC marathon complete!" Allin said. "5:35:14. I wanted to challenge myself and not train at all and see what happened. What a wild experience, now time for Blood & Guts. Thanks Kulture City!"A live results page for the marathon confirmed that Allin ran the race and finished it at 5 hours, 34 minutes and 34 seconds, a slightly better time than the one Allin gave in his post. As briefly noted by Allin and seen in his Instagram photo, he was sponsored by Team KultureCity, the nonprofit organization that specializes in sensory inclusion modifications, and has been associated with AEW since the promotion's formation in 2019.Allin's marathon run comes during a week where the former AEW Men's World Champion is putting himself through the ringer. Last week, he successfully defended the TNT Championship against Josh Alexander in a hard fought "AEW Dynamite" match, and just days later traveled to Mexico City, where he was defeated by CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero in Arena Mexico. As Allin alluded to, his toughest test of the week may be coming Wednesday, where he'll take part in the Men's Blood & Guts match. Allin will team with current AEW Men's World Champion Will Ospreay, AEW World Tag Team Champions the Young Bucks, Adam Copeland, and Steven Borden to take on the Don Callis Family's Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Mark Davis, Jake Doyle, Wardlow, and AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada.
