EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsJACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas Jr. said Wednesday he isn't concerned about being the subject of recent trade rumors. And he isn't wasting time worrying about his future with the team, either. After all, he's been there before."Everybody's entitled to their own opinion," Thomas, a Pro Bowler as a rookie, said. "I just go out there, do what I do, and just try to go out there and be the best player I can be."For some, that opinion is that Thomas needs a change of scenery and that the Jaguars would be better off trading the third-year receiver, especially after his disappointing performance against the Houston Texans in London on Oct. 18. Thomas dropped one pass and failed to come up with a catchable throw in the first half of that game, then didn't play a snap in the second half of the 34-31 loss, later leaving the Wembley Stadium locker room without talking to reporters. On the season, Thomas now has four drops, per ESPN Research.Thomas on Wednesday said he wanted to "flush" that game and move forward with a different mindset."Everybody goes through adversity," he said. "You've just got to keep fighting through it. That's the only way I know how to get through, just keep fighting through it. And that's what I'm going to continue to do, keep fighting and keep coming in with a good mindset, keep working hard each and every day at practice."Going out there, doing the little things, trying to be the best that I can be, blocking, doing all the little things, just keep fighting through it."Thomas has just nine catches for 105 yards and a touchdown in six games this season, yet coach Liam Coen said Wednesday he remains a significant part of the offense."Every player has ups and downs," Coen said. "I fully anticipate he's going to make plays for us this Sunday (against the Colts)."Thomas has been the subject of trade rumors in the past. Before the start of free agency this spring, Jaguars general manager James Gladstone said the team was not trying to trade Thomas and called any reports that it was shopping him "fraudulent claims."Thomas set a franchise rookie record with 1,282 yards receiving -- which ranked third in the NFL -- and had 10 TD catches in 2024 , when he made the Pro Bowl. Expectations for him in 2025 were high, especially after Coen said at the NFL scouting combine that year he planned to run the pass offense through the former LSU star. But Thomas looked uncomfortable during training camp that season. In addition to learning the new offense, he and quarterback Trevor Lawrence had some issues connecting on throws. It continued into the regular season, when Thomas dropped five passes in the first five games -- including a fourth-down drop inside the 10-yard line in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. There were also several instances when he appeared to shy away from contact.Thomas finished his second season with 48 catches for 707 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games. This year, expectations for Thomas rose again after he had a strong training camp. But two drops in a Week 2 loss to the Denver Broncos and the two against the Texans cranked up the trade speculation.Thomas is trying his best to ignore it -- again."I try not to be too up, too down, too low," Thomas said. "So I try to stay [in the middle]. So just trying to tune all that out and just stay focused, stay locked in on the main thing."
