As the date for WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia gets closer and closer, the more questions are raised about whether the show should go on, as attacks on Saudi Arabia continue. And now with less than a week till Crown Jewel, even more cause for concern has emerged. The New York Times reports that a recent US intelligence memo sent by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton warned of dangers facing State Department employees in "the Middle East and other regions," with Iran said to be in "advanced stages" of planning attacks against Americans in the area. While there is no mention of WWE, or any other entertainment acts, in the report or the memo, many believe it's another indicator that WWE should postpone, or move, Crown Jewel to another location outside of Saudi Arabia. The event will not only be put together largely by American personnel, but will take place in the Riyadh Season Stadium, which is expected to seat a sizable crowd. Construction of the temporary stadium was supposedly underway as of late last week, around the same time Clayton's memo became known.Despite the memo, all indications, including the construction of the stadium, continue to suggest that WWE will throw caution to the wind and head to Saudi Arabia. When asked about the ongoing conflict last week, TKO CEO Ari Emanuel stated that while TKO and WWE were monitoring the situation daily in the event that Crown Jewel would need to be moved, all signs pointed towards the PLE, and other TKO events in the Middle East, proceeding as planned. WWE continued to advertise Crown Jewel as taking place in Riyadh later that night on "SmackDown," when they announced Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match would take place on the show.
