In his prime, Shawn Michaels was never short of being a "Showstopper." Wrestling during some of the most highly watched eras in WWE history, his believability captured fans. WWE Hall of Famer and good friend to Michaels in real life, Kevin Nash, recalls one scenario in which fans actually believed Michaels was hospitalized after his match. Frantic by what they saw, it appears many within the WWE Universe called the hospital where Michaels was staying (storyline wise), seeking information on HBK."I remember when we did the Shawn Michaels thing, when he took the blow and he went down, and I remember when I pitched it, I said, 'We can't have the commentators talk...We have to have the locker rooms come out, heels and babyfaces, kind of standing to make sure that he's f***ed, and then take him out...' I'm pretty sure we checked him into a Springfield hospital. So, people called. Shawn was in the hospital. So...you can make s*** real. But you can't make s*** half real," Nash said on his "Kliq This" podcast. The quote above comes from a conversation Nash and his co-host Sean Oliver had over the debate of believability in today's wrestling, and how everyone plays a role on how it sells, from the in-ring stars down to the commentators at ringside. If you use any of the quotes in this article, please credit "Kliq This: The Kevin Nash Podcast" with a h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.
