Andoni Iraola was delighted with Liverpools win at nine-man Brentford this afternoon but left frustrated by the VAR. Second-half goals from Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak gave the Merseysiders all three points at the Gtech Community Stadium after Brentford had gone in front through Keane Lewis-Potters effort a minute before the break.Yehor Yarmoliuk was sent off deep into first-half stoppage time and the Bees also saw Vitaly Janelt dismissed late on.It was a vital win for Liverpool, enabling them to build on the 6-3 victory at LASK in midweek, but Iraola was still irritated by a first-half incident when his side had a penalty awarded but then overturned by VAR Darren England, who deemed Dango Outtara had made contract with the ball as well as Alexis Mac Allister. The Spaniard said: Theyre a very good team so to finish with three points here is really valuable. The penalty situationI dont think it was a penalty [but] I dont think VAR should intervene as there was a clear touch after.I remember Nottingham Forest earlier in the season it was a very similar situation where they said we are not going to intervene because there is contact. I think Dango arrived to touch the ball but the way they explained it after Forest is exactly that one and I dont think the VAR should intervene. We played very well against 10 men the minutes up until 2-1. We were patient, finding good positions. Probably more disappointed after we scored to make it 2-1 as then we felt like we have something to lose. [Until then] We were playing freely, we were finding good spots, we were sending a lot of players forward. But at 2-1, then we missed clear chances to finish the game.Liverpool win comes at a costIt wasnt all good news for Liverpool, though, with the returning Dominik Szoboszlai lasting just 32 minutes before having to come off while Jeremie Frimpong, on as a half-time substitute for Ronald Araujo, was himself taken off six minutes later. We have a very delicate situation, Iraola said. We came from playing Champions League late at night and probably not a proper chance of recovery. You have doubt between players who have started two games and are tired, or players recovering from injuries and not sure.Dominik felt the same injuries, not a new injury, so [it had] probably not healed enough. Jeremies injury is new. I thought playing against 10 hed give us more heading forward. But it will mean we will lose Dom and Jeremie for some time.Andrews believes Liverpool man played part in red cardYarmoliuk was dismissed for throwing his head at Jeremy Jacquet but Bees boss Keith Andrews felt the Frenchman had initiated the confrontation.Hes clearly disappointed, said Andrews. Hes an amazing young man. We need to remember he is young and someone we love working with and want to try and develop. We need to look at ourselves first we dont tend to look at what part they play in the incident. I think they were cute and clever Yarmo needs to do better, and I can understand why that was a red.If you look at where Jacquet is walking, hes not looking at the ball. Hes walking into Yarmo. But we focus on us and our actions.Andrews felt the red card changed the dynamic of the game, adding: We were edging it we were getting into a good rhythm starting to play with more belief and speed, thought and actions. And we got ourselves in front. I felt confident the bench was strong and we were going to be able to make. But the sending off changes the game and we gave them an advantage. Topics Brentford F.C.
