Deathmatch legend Necro Butcher recently announced that he had signed a WWE Legends deal, and a new report has revealed the possible reason the promotion offered him a contract.Butcher had never been a part of WWE during his long career but was given a deal that was later reported to be a "nostalgia agreement." "PWInsider Elite" has now reported that WWE gave him a deal to potentially add him to its video games. The report added that WWE will not be bringing Butcher in to wrestle, with the deal said to have been influenced by the positive response the company received following the addition of another hardcore wrestler, New Jack, to WWE 2K26. WWE President Nick Khan reportedly pushed for Butcher to be brought in for a similar role.WWE has inducted wrestlers who never competed for the promotion into its Hall of Fame, but Necro Butcher is one of the few to receive a Legends deal despite never wrestling for WWE. The news came as a surprise, considering the non-PG style of wrestling that Butcher showcased throughout his career. The 53-year-old Butcher continues to wrestle in his hardcore style on the independent circuit, and his story was recently told in an episode of "Dark Side of the Ring," which chronicled his infamous match against AEW's Samoa Joe in 2005.
