
EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will start Sunday, but he will be minus one of his top receivers.Commanders coach Dan Quinn said receiver Stefon Diggs won't play because of a hamstring injury suffered in a Week 4 loss to the Colts. Quinn also said receiver Terry McLaurin "looked really good" in practice Friday but stopped short of saying he would definitely play.The Commanders (1-3) host the Giants (3-1) Sunday in a key divisional game. Washington already is 0-2 in the NFC East.The Commanders also will return right guard Sam Cosmi, who missed two games with a concussion, and running back Rachaad White, who missed last season with a shoulder injury.McLaurin did not play vs. the Colts after injuring his hamstring two days before the game. McLaurin is third on the Commanders with 10 receptions and second with 141 yards.Diggs did not participate in practice all week, though he did go through stretching Thursday before heading to a separate field for work with the team's athletic trainers. But he was not on the field Friday during the portion open to the media.Diggs leads Washington with 18 catches for 170 yards and three touchdowns.Daniels' return from a dislocated left elbow had been expected all week. He was limited in practice when the team worked in London, but the goal was to make sure he was ready vs. the Giants. Daniels will play with a brace on his non-throwing elbow for the rest of the season. The brace keeps his elbow slightly bent.Daniels said he can do everything necessary with the brace on, such as handoff and take snaps from center.Daniels was a full participant all week and offensive coordinator David Blough said Thursday that there would be no limitations with the game plan because of his elbow."He's full go," Blough said.Daniels has finished only five games since the start of the 2025 season. He dislocated his elbow in Week 10 last year and returned in Week 14 only to re-aggravate the injury after getting shoved to the ground and landing on his left arm.Rookie Athan Kaliakmanis will backup Daniels. Washington could opt to sign Sam Hartman to the active roster off the practice squad and make him the emergency third quarterback.
