AEW is set to hold its first-ever Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream, and company president Tony Khan is looking forward to the match, dreamed up by current AEW World Champion Will Ospreay, who will be defending his gold in the bout. Qualifying matches begin Tuesday night on "AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Paris," and Khan commented on the excitement on a pre-show X (formerly Twitter) stream."I'm really looking forward to the Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream," Khan said. "Will Ospreay approached me about this match and I'm really looking forward to implementing it in AEW. It was a great idea when he brought it up to me, and I'm looking forward to bringing it into AEW, making it our own match. I've made some tweaks to the format. I've added qualifying matches... It's Will Ospreay's dream match, but who's to say he'll even be in, going into the world title fight at WrestleDream after [Kazuchika] Okada fights Ospreay for the world title tonight."Khan said that the rules of the match will be gone over extensively, both on "Dynamite" on Tuesday, as well as in the days ahead of WrestleDream. The match stipulation was announced and explained on Saturday's edition of "AEW Collision," after Ospreay first trialed the concept at Pro Wrestling EVE over the weekend. The match will take place in two stages. Two men will start off the bout, and after three minutes, another talent will enter, until a total of eight performers get into the ring. If someone is pinned or forced to submit at any point in this first stage, they are eliminated from the match. The second stage is a 15-minute Iron Man match, contested between any remaining competitors. At the end of the time period, the man with the most falls wins the AEW World Championship.
