EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsSANTA CLARA, Calif. -- For the second time in as many games, the San Francisco 49ers lost a wide receiver to an ankle injury, as Demarcus Robinson departed late in the second quarter of Sunday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins.After rookie De'Zhaun Stribling suffered a left ankle injury that required surgery and will keep him out 10 weeks last week against the Los Angeles Rams, Robinson came up limping after a 20-yard catch with 6:46 to go in the second quarter on Sunday.On the play, Robinson came open on the left hash as quarterback Brock Purdy led him a bit too far. Robinson extended for the ball and rolled over as he secured the catch. He attempted to get back up to score but was unable to get up and a Dolphins defender touched him down.Robinson favored his right ankle as he quickly hobbled to the medical tent on the Niners' sideline. A few moments later, a cart arrived and took Robinson to the locker room.The 49ers initially designated Robinson as questionable to return but the team ruled him out at halftime. Absent Stribling, the Niners had been using Robinson and Deebo Samuel to help fill the void with Samuel starting Sunday and Robinson rotating in.Robinson had three catches for 35 yards when he went out. Without Robinson, the only Niners receivers available are Mike Evans, Samuel, Jacob Cowing and KhaDarel Hodge. Ricky Pearsall is out for the year following knee surgery and veteran Christian Kirk is on injured reserve with a calf issue.
